LAUREN GAFFNEY

Lauren Gaffney is co-owner of Mastel’s Health Foods, Minnesota’s oldest vitamin and supplement store, proudly serving the community since 1968. She began her career at Mastel’s in 2002 while attending Macalester College and has spent more than two decades growing with the business. Over that time, she developed deep expertise across operations, including 12 years as Purchasing Manager before becoming General Manager in 2019. In 2023, Lauren and her business partner, Alina Hornfeldt, acquired the store from founder John Mastel, continuing its legacy as a trusted community resource.

With nearly 25 years in the natural products industry, Lauren brings strong expertise in retail strategy, responsible sourcing, and regulatory trends. She has served on SENPA’s Emerging Leaders Council for the past two years and was recognized as a Top Woman in Grocery in 2023. She is dedicated to advancing a transparent, education-driven natural products industry that empowers healthier communities.
